Gove steps down as Education Secretary
A major cabinet reshuffle has resulted in dramatic role changes for key members of parliament.
One of the most controversial education sectaries in recent years Michael Gove, will be moving from the Department of Education and take up position as the new chief whip.
His educational reforms have been wide-reaching and include: the implementation of free schools, linnearising examinations, and the extension of the academy programme.
His traditional approach to the curriculum and education more generally has placed him in conflict with teaching unions and at times parents because of the radical nature these approaches took.
He will be replaced by the relatively unknown Nicky Morgan, who is perceived to have a less confrontational style than her predecessor. Her previous role was as Minister for Women.
